Mega Man X6

Below you will find my opinions on Mega Man X6 Notable Differences: (1) Hints are shown by button icon and activated by pressing the button (2) Zero playable after being found (3) X has Zero's Beam Saber (4) You can dash by pressing the jump button twice instead of separate button (5) Voice Acting still in Japanese (6) Three Ways to Reveal Fortress (7) Reploids can be attacked (8) Reploids' state stays the same even after death (9) Stage Layout changes depending on Last Stage Visited (10) Rapid Fire and Auto Charge can be turned on in options (11) Charge Shot is Smaller in Size (12) Part Chart (13) Reploid Chart (14) Maverick-Hunter Rank RPG Element Difficult Mavericks: "Rainy Turtloid" weakness is technically "Ice Burst" (From Blizzard Wolfang) but attacking his green gems and hanging on the wall just a hair longer so he turns the wrong way will ultimately help defeat him, "Infinity Mijinion" weakness is technically "Guard Shel...

Megaman X4-5

Below you will find my opinions on Mega Man X4 and X5 Megaman X4 Notable Differences: (1) Choose to play X or Zero from start of the game (2) Option to change buttons (3) Energy capsules land closed and then open (4) Weapons recharge when you die (5) 1-Ups glow (6) Maverick Attack Patterns based on Street Fighter Moves (7) Able to use Ride Armor against a Maverick (8) Japanese Weapon Names left in (9) Armor Cheat Codes Before Starting Game Difficult Mavericks (using Zero): Use Ride Armor first time around and "Raijingeki" aka "Thundergod Attack" aka "lightning" (From Web Spider) against Magma Dragoon. Use "Ryuenjin" aka "Dragon Flame Blade" aka "fire" (From Magma Dragoon) against Cyber Peacock. Use "Rakuhouha" aka "Aiming Laser" aka "peacock" against Storm Owl if he proves difficult. Useful Weapons (using Zero) : "Kuuenbu" (From Split Mushroom) allows you to double-jump (w...

Mega Man X1-3

Below you will find my opinions on Mega Man X, X2, X3, and Mega Man 8 What to expect in Megaman X? Most of the gameplay remains true to the original series. However unlike the original Mega Man, Mega Man X series develops a much more elaborate storyline "in the future". Dr. Cain discovers a strange capsule left behind by the late Dr. Light. Using "X" as a prototype, he mass-produces "Reploids" so that they could benefit humanity. Reploids start to think for themselves and were going "Maverick" against the humans. Dr. Cain's best robot, "Sigma", decides to lead them. With the help of "Zero", X continues to fight back. I know there are a lot of quotation marks in there but all of those elements are repeated throughout the whole series. What makes up Megaman X? In control of X, or eventually Zero, you fight 8 Mavericks. You will also have to eventually fight X-Hunters. There will be a rematch with the Mavericks...

Megaman Review

Megaman Annivesary Collection . I don't know why I didn't find this sooner. They released a game that contained all 8 original Mega Man games together in one neat package. They collectively contain new graphics, improved sound effects, and a better user interface. They still have about 95% of the old game intact. But now they have "Navi Mode" that adds a ton of tips you can read in each of the stages. They won't explicitly tell the Robot Master's weakness but will add a ton of hints and tips. A map and password is also added while playing certain stages. I might yet be able to play Mega Man 8. Megaman Summary . After playing 10 games, I figured it would be time to do a quick rundown on what I thought of the games and maybe what I've should have done differently. Skip Megaman 1 . A lot of people will say the same thing. This game is extremely frustrating. There are no passwords, no save slots, no refill tanks, and no guidance. Even the latter M...

Megaman 7-8

Megaman 7 Notable Differences : (1) SNES graphics (2) Beat is neither an attack pet or support but simply helps you if you fall into pits (3) Cutscenes (4) Robot Masters react to their weaknesses and strengths (5) SNES bumper to easily switch between weapons without going into the menu (6) Hidden Trap Areas (7) Smaller screen (8) Shop (9) Introduction to new characters: Bass & Treble, Auto, Reggae (10) Rush Search (11) Introduction Stage Difficult Robot Masters : There are two bosses relatively harder than the rest. Junk Shield (from Junk Man) takes out Freeze Man.Wild Coil (from Spring Man) takes out Shade Man. Useful Weapons: : Burst Man "Danger Wrap" lays down mines, collects enemies in bubbles, and launches mines in bubbles that you can push; Freeze Man "Freeze Cracker" freezes certain enemies and helps in navigating certain areas; Junk Man "Junk Shield" brings damage and protection; Turbo Man "Scorch Wheel" melts ice and bu...

Megaman 9-10

Megaman 9 Notable Differences: (1) Revert to 8-bit style (2) Time Trials (3) Hard Mode (4) Survival Mode (5) Challenges (6) Play as ProtoMan (7) Hero Mode (8) Robot Masters receive damage and detrimental effect to their weakness (9) Achievements (10) Save Slots instead of Passwords (11) Costumes (12) Shock Guard Difficult Robot Masters: "Laser Trident" against Concrete Man. "Concrete Shot" against Galaxy Man. "Magma Bazooka" against Hornet Man. "Black Hole Bomb" against Jewel Man. "Tornado Blow" against Magma Man. "Jewel Satellite" against Plug Man. "Hornet Chaser" against Splash Woman. "Plug Ball" against Tornado Man. Both Tornado Man and Hornet Man seem to be easier to defeat first with your normal mega buster. Useful Weapons: All weapons have some sort of ability or technique that is useful. "Concrete Shot" shoots out a block that freezes enemies, freezes fire, and creates a tempo...

Megaman 4-6

Megaman 4 Notable Differences : (1) Can be killed even after a boss is defeated (2) Mega Buster Charge Shot (3) Charge Shot stays charged even after being hit (4) Alternate Pathways (5) Secret Areas (6) mini-fridge Eddie (FlipTop) that dispenses a random item (7) Two Fortresses (8) Optional Items Difficult Robot Masters : Use "Skull Barrier (from Skull Man) against Dive Man. "Flash Stopper" (from Bright Man) does actually freeze Pharaoh Man if he gets a bit tough Useful Weapons: Drill Man "Drill Bomb" clears barriers and destroys small units. Review: Toad Man's stage gives me the most dread. The boss is a wuss but his stage limits your maneuverability quite a bit. Mega Man 3 Rush Jet (from Drill Man) was too powerful, so they decided to allow you to only move it up and down as it moves a slightly slower pace than Mega Man 2. Rush Jet is useful near the end of Bright Man's stage. Rush Marine (From Toad Man) is rarely utilized. Instead, the...

Megaman 1-3

Megaman Notable Differences : (1) Highscore System with Point Balls (2) Instant Death Upon Hitting a Spike under No Circumstances (3) 6 Robot Masters instead of 8 (4) Game Paused when picking up Items (5) Pause Screen separate than Weapon Screen (6) Original Game had no Weapon Names (7) Robot Masters reappear when revisiting a stage (8) Items reappear after changing screens (8) Megaman has a few seconds of invincibility after receiving damage (9) Item required to pass a stage (10) No passwords (11) No Energy Tanks (12) Yashichi Item to Fully Restore All Energy-Based Weapons and Items Difficult Robot Masters : None Useful Weapons: Guts Man "Super Arm" acts more like a utility that allows you to grab debris (only way to obtain "Magnet Beam" on Elec Man's stage); Ice Man "Ice Slasher" freezes enemies and fire; Cut Man "Rolling Cutter" destroys certain unstoppable enemies. Review : Levels and Fortress Bosses are ultimately harder tha...

Megaman Basics

This part will cover the basics. Megaman, or Rockman in Japan, is a series I remember fondly. I owned Megaman 2,3,4 on my Nintendo and played them quite frequently. With reviews of the kickstarter project Mighty No. 9 just now coming out, I figured it was high-time to do a Megaman Marathon . I was going to write out a full summary of how each game fared between each other until I realized someone already beat me to it . In fact, a lot of people help explain the games in great detail. The WIkia has a lot of information too. So instead of listing every detail, I'm going to list my general impressions of the games and their difficulty. What to Expect? Megaman came out with a ton of games. The Anniversary Edition covered the first 6 games on the Nintendo. Then there were some released on the SNES. Megaman X series touched on Sony's Playstation (multiple generations). There were even some multiple bags of Megaman on the Game Boy. Things get a little confusing with all th...
