Borderlands 3

Here we go again. Another game exclusive from the "big bad" Epic Store . Let's just ignore the fact that the game "sold" 5 million copies within the first 5 days . You may have recalled all the promotional and marketing going around with its release. First there was the Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary Campaign DLC to help bridge Borderlands 2 and 3 June 6, 2019. Then August 27, 2019 Fortnite had a Borderlands crossover event . Let's not forget all those "juicy" Pre-order bonuses . Though I guess if you were a real fan you'd buy all the merchandise . And why bother waiting 6 months for a Steam release when everyone is already playing the game . But enough about that. You want to know how it compares to the rest of the series, right? My notes for this game got very extensive over the course of playing this game. The number of changes I noticed within the first couple hours alone could fill a whole page. So let's get down t...

Tales from the Borderlands

Developers: I must preface that Tales from the Borderlands is not like the other games. Unlike the first-person shooter style Gearbox Software made of Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands Pre-Sequel , this game was developed by Telltale Games (which was sort of hinted at in the title) in 2014 and 2015. You must be a sad person if you haven't at least played one of their games . I have personally played Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, Tales of Monkey Island, and Back to the Future: The Game. Although many people might be more familiar with The Walking Dead, Minecraft: Story Mode, or Batman: Telltale Series. The game is usually divided up over 5 episodes lasting around 2 hours long. Traversing through heavy narration choices with very little interaction or gameplay is just part of the course. Just look at others like Odd Gentlemen: King's Quest or DontNod Entertainment: Life is Strange to see how successful this formula works for companies. Al...

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is nothing what I was expecting in a Borderlands game. To imagine a game coming between the events of the original game and the sequel is a pretty interesting concept to think about. After playing the game, I came out with mixed feelings. Then again, I think every game I've played so far in the series has been a mixed bag. It was all based on that original "let's see how many different guns we can have" idea they pitched in the beginning of this whole saga. Setting: The developers did an excellent job transitioning the game's playground from a desert wasteland to a thralling moon atmosphere . Your characters require Oxygen Tanks to breathe, all except the robot of course, and require constant refilling of those tanks through environmentally controlled waypoints, mysterious underground air pockets, or small capsules that drop from enemies. The system will warn you when you are getting low on oxygen (and it can be turned off...

Borderlands 2

Timeline: I would have played Borderlands 2 a lot sooner if it wasn't for Gearbox Software doing something I never anticipated. No, it isn't the fact that they finally included a re-release of the October 20, 2009 Borderlands with enhanced features on April 3, 2019 as mentioned in my May 25, 2019 review of the game. Or the fact that they discounted everything in both the Borderlands 2 and Borderlands Pre-Sequel 97% off ($6.02) on June 4, 2019. Even if you missed that promotion, the Handsome Collection is consistently marked down to $60 for the full package. The one thing I was surprised to see was the fact they released a 5th Campaign DLC, Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary on June 6, 2019 . It was offered freely until July 8, 2019 and supposedly tied the story from Borderlands 2 to Borderlands 3. One important aspect of this DLC is the fact that you can form any class at level 30 instantly with all the quests still available for completion. This w...

Borderlands

When I heard that Borderlands was coming out with an "Enhanced" version, I figured now was my chance to play the game. I've heard and seen people play the game constantly and I never bothered to play it myself until now. The game is about 13GB to download. Was it worth it? No way should you buy it for $29.99 . It was worth it for a dollar. I just didn't understand how the main campaign took just 15 hours to finish! I thought for sure it would have taken me at least 40 hours. Well it did with the DLC but I'll get to that later. Ultimately, the game doesn't really cater to my tastes. Let me explain. What people tend to forget is the original Borderlands was a foundation for more to come. I've heard a lot of debate whether it was better than the others in the series. I can't say at this point seeing that I'm going to play them in order. It was released in October 20, 2009 . Do you know how old that is? Games like Assassin's Creed 2,...
