The House of Da Vinci
Released: November 24, 2017
Game Length: 5 Hours
Grade: B
Expectations: When playing The Room series, someone suggested that I should also try out The House of Da Vinci. Judging from the screenshots, it looked like it was developed by the same company. But no, it looks like Blue Brain Games did it instead of Fireproof Games. Either way, I'm planning to have a similar experience.
Reality: Are you sure the same guys didn't make this game? Well alright, the little oculus device they give you doesn't read invisible ink but instead allows you to see the gears behind the wall. The time travel part of your gauntlet is also kind of different. It is neat to actually see nicely-designed people moving about in this game, even if it is only for a couple moments. Otherwise, my opinion of the game isn't much different than what I had for The Room series. Some things you can't interact with or see "glow" until you zoom into a certain position. Sometimes I got so frustrated trying to find what to do next that summoning the hint system was like being a little kid shouting, "Mommy, I can't find it!" and it would say "Well, have you checked over there." There was a section at the very end where I had to look at the walkthrough. I was infuriated when the commenter said, "You just really have to go through trial-and-error." That is not a proper way to designing something in a puzzle game. In the end, I enjoyed my 4 hours in the game and will plan out in checking out its sequel.
